An LGBTQ Welcoming Congregation
First Parish in Concord has completed the work set forth by the Unitarian Universalist Association (UUA) to become a Welcoming Congregation to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer people. Through self-reflection and social action, the congregation has declared that it is open to and affirming of people of all sexual orientations and gender expressions. It explicitly does not discriminate in membership or employment against LGBTQ persons. With openly LGBTQ persons on staff and in key leadership positions, First Parish in Concord lives up to its openness. Additionally, the church has two lavatories that are open to all forms of gender expression. The church happily performs weddings for same sex couples and welcomes LGBTQ couples and their children. A contingent from the church marches in Boston’s gay pride parade with a banner each year.
